Animals in suits.

My vote for best new (relatively new) site goes to Etsy. If you’re looking to buy or sell anything handmade this is the newest addition to your selection of bookmarks. When I came across the work of Ryan Berkley I had to go lie down for awhile. This is the coolest series I’ve seen in a long time. I am really tempted to buy every single one of his illustrations of animals in suits. Someone shoulda told Wes Anderson to hire Berkley to help art direct Fantastic Mr. Fox – as much as I am a Wes Anderson fan there is no way Anderson’s characters will look as cool as these:

I love the little descriptions Berkley includes for each character too.

Check them out and buy Berkley’s prints on Etsy here:

Hey, thanks for the compliment. you’ve got a pretty sweet blog here yourself. And Etsy is one of the best things online right now. so addicting. so refreshing. and so accessible. i love it. It’s like what Myspace is for artists — cuts out the middle man.

Artist Spotlight: j.frede

Beautifully combined images in this series by Los Angeles-based artist j.frede. Made with seemingly banal landscape photographs purchased at flea markets and arranged into a single scene, these collages effectively merge different times and places together, creating entirely new landscapes. The gorgeous framing is really makes this simple idea quite striking. More images from Fiction Landscapes below.

Video of the Day: “Life is a Dance” by Sebastian Linda

Incredible energy in the filming/editing of this dance video by artist/filmmaker Sebastian Linda. Visual style is very similar to Leonardo Dalessandri’s “Watchtower of Turkey” (featured here) but I’d say it’s a much better fit with this type of content. Check out “Life is a Dance” below!
