I’ve always found an element of creepiness to Genevieve Gauckler’s work, perhaps that’s why I find it so interesting. Even when the image is like 99% cute there is like a 2% creep factor (I realise that makes 101% but that’s what I’m talking about – that extra 1% of creepiness is what gets me).
Edmonton-born, Vancouver-based artist Jay Senetchko re-imagines the relationship of his late grandparents, specifically the domestic life of Senetchko’s grandmother who spent a great deal of time alone while his grandfather was away working in the Alberta oil patch.
