Honda / Let it Shine

W+K’s Amsterdam office one-upped the Sheep LED ad spot with this one. There is no CG here! This was put together the good old fashion way, with laser sights, GPS, and a land surveyor! It’s a good thing all those cars are hybrids! Directed by Erik Van Wyk.

[...] 29 March 2009 in Uncategorized That vid from Samsung of the sheep with LED lights on a hillside (I’ve posted it at the bottom) made the rounds a week or two ago and caused a little stir. It’s pretty entertaining, yeah, and a fun concept. But the experts are saying that the hillside images (like the Mona Lisa section and the part with pong, that is, the most impressive sections) are probably CGI, despite the efforts to make everything seem authentic. However, Honda just released a wicked little ad with a plethora of hybrids arranged in a grid making fun little designs with their lights. I’m really doing the vid no justice, but what’s impressive here is that it’s (apparently) all natural, baby. So it follows after a little blurb about the making of it (originally here, with a Quicktime version), and there’s a film here (also on the Bouffant site) about the making of the ad. (via booooooom.)
