All Things Ordinary / Zine

A great little photo zine called All Things Ordinary just showed up on my doorstep. Issue #1 of this LA-based publication features work by many photographers I’ve mentioned before: Bryan Schutmaat, Ye Rin Mok, Nicholas Haggard, Eleanor Hardwick, and my friend Erin Loechner (Design For Mankind)!

  • I bought this and hasten to add I was rather disappointed, however if pretty girls taking pictures of themselves or their pretty mates lying on beds is yr bag, you won’t be disappointed.
Not to say it didn’t have its gems, but they were photographs I’d already seen by my friends on flickr.
Nothing else in it really grabbed me but $13 isn’t a great deal, so why not.

    • well, the zine IS called ‘all things ordinary’….

(personally/actually, i’m pretty into the spread in the 4th image posted here.)

  • I saw this on creative output a while ago, looks like a great mag !

  • g

i have a copy of this zine myself and i think it’s amazing. the theme seems very personal. i love it. good look on this one booooooom!

Hand-Embroidered Photographs by Artist Diane Meyer

American artist Diane Meyer questions the ability of photography to accurately preserve our memory and experience, highlighting its tendency to obscure the past by transforming history into an object of nostalgia. Embroidering directly onto photographs taken along the former path of the Berlin wall, see more images from “Berlin” below.

You can also click here to see our previous post on Meyer’s series of hand-embroidered family photos, “Time Spent That Might Otherwise Be Forgotten,” a selection of which is on display at the George Eastman Museum in New York until Janurary 29th.
