Okay the photo of the kid flying above the city I think a part of me died when I saw it because its too awesome to take, its like someone painted what my reoccurring dreams look like! LOVE!

The third painting is so ethereal. I came back to this site several times today just to look at it again.

    图片让我产生恐惧的感觉,特别是第一张。绘画的人到底想说什么呢?于是我猜,大概是想说人与自然的故事吧。

OURO Collective Presents “PACE” and “Kaleido”

OURO-PACE-KALEIDO

Heads up for anyone in the Vancouver area, our friends OURO Collective are presenting their new show featuring two works “PACE” (choreographed by OURO) and “Kaleido” (choreographed by Tentacle Tribe). Their work combines street and contemporary dance in a really unique way, and I’m excited to see this show. I’ve shot a couple of their rehearsals and have been planning a project with them in the future!

This is an event for anybody (all ages), and I especially recommend it if you’re a creative person – seeing a lot more dance shows in the past couple years has really inspired the things I’m working on in unexpected ways.

There are 3 evening shows May 5th-7th @ 7:30pm, and 1 matinee show May 8th @ 1:30pm. Advance tickets are available online here.

FYI tickets are slightly cheaper online vs at the door, and their previous show sold out and people were turned away at the door. The show has been kindly sponsored by Converse, with on-going support from Craft Academy SalonSpotlight Dance Centre and Anna Wyman School of Dance Arts.

Mind-Bending Photo Manipulations by Artist Laurent Rosset

Rosset5

A selection of clever photo manipulations by photographer/architect Laurent Rosset, another artist experimenting with the illusion of landscapes which seem to fold back on themselves. You may recall Aydin Büyüktas’ work “Flatland” utilized a drone to create a very similar effect.

More of Rosset’s images below.

Shit Robot – “Lose Control” Directed by Kevin McGloughlin

shitrobot-losecontrol

One of my favourite videos so far this year! Kevin McGloughlin directs this mesmerizing visual for Shit Robot’s “Lose Control” featuring Nancy Whang. Stellar editing here – a perfect fit for the track. I’d love to know how some of these effects were achieved. Watch it over on Booooooom TV.

Booooooom Reader Submissions: May

May-Submissions-600

Here is this month’s Reader Submissions post! Please share your work here if you’d like to be considered for a feature on Booooooom. The comments allow images to be attached so make sure post an image along with a link to your website.

One of the things that makes Booooooom unique is all the encouraging comments people send back and forth on these monthly submission posts. The comments and upvotes do not go unnoticed! Voting up work is like high-fiving that person and it also helps us see what work you guys like! Remember, even if your work isn’t featured on the main site these posts can send some decent traffic to your portfolio!

The link at the bottom will open up this full post, simply scroll down and use the Disqus commenting system to submit your work.

Submission guidelines:

1. Please don’t flood the comments with a dozen images, just post 1 image that represents your best work along with 1 link.

2. If you see good work posted by someone upvote it so it appears at the top. This is not just a nice thing to do, it helps me see what work you actually like.

3. You can/should also encourage people who are sharing good work here! Comment on their posts and let them know you like what they’re doing. I really want to foster a community here, and this is a simple way you can connect with other people making work.

4. Keep in mind your post may not show up right away because it has an image attached. It may need to be manually approved first so don’t freak out and post a million times, once is enough.
