Martin Creed
Installation by Martin Creed on the Wing Sang building here in Vancouver (Chinatown). “Everything Is Going To Be Alright”.

Real estate mogul Bob Rennie commissioned artist Martin Creed to install his artwork as part of a restoration project. The Wing Sang building is the oldest building in Chinatown. The phrase “Everything is going to be alright” is a reference to the upcoming 2010 Olympic games and a hopeful message to the Downtown Eastside in general.

yes it is. ! =)
The Museum Of Contermporary Art in Detroit had the same installation for a while: http://themicrowave.wordpress.com/2009/04/05/one-possible-future/
Hope it’s the same artist…
it is!
Oh cool, that’s what’s up!
In Detroit after a while they changed it to “Nothing Will Be Alright”.
Really beautiful.
Reminds me of Jenny Holzer’s truisms.
I live almost directly across from this, and first noticed it after a particularly rough day. Sometimes Vancouver gives back in unexpected ways.
Amazing
Wish I could see this in person!
Awesome! I’ll have to swing by some time…
THIS IS 100% been done! DETROIT Museum of Contemporary Art Detroit had this first by Martin Creed. Then It got changed to Nothing will be alright! think about it.
Edit somebody already posted it. I just Lol’d
This installation is discussed in the context of who Bob Rennie is in Vancouver, and how he himself sees the piece, here:

The piece may well end up becoming the ultimate ironic slogan for the Vancouver real estate market, which is currently in a bubble and overvalued more than almost any real estate anywhere else on the globe.
