Kintera uses existing (found) objects together in a new and unexpected way. “My light is Your Life” (Model Shiva Samurai 5 kW/50 Hz) , a haloed figure constructed of a variety of old lighting fixtures, towers over the viewer glowing like a giant all-consuming energy monster. The humming of the energy flowing through the sculpture adds another dimension of sound to the viewing experience. An overwhelming mountain of chords stream out from behind the radiant sculpture as it hums with energy. I feel Kintera was contemplating on the consumption of energy; it consumes five kilowatts per hour! We as a society run on electricity and would be unable to live life the same way without it. We have become dependent upon it, thus his title of “My Life is Your Light”. This sculpture, often referred to as an “angel of waste”, parallels our dependency on electricity.
