  • The leaking effect is really stunning! I love the contrast.

  • The geometrical, black shapes are so bold and then there’s these elements of colour and texture that creep out of the shapes that contrast against the black. It’s like the black part is a skin and it’s been punctured in places and peeled back to reveal the underside. My favourite is the round one for it’s interesting shape and ‘bleeding’ colour.

Artist Joel Daniel Phillips examines San Francisco’s Bayview-Hunters Point neighbourhood through three friends and deeply-rooted residents. Defined by the Hunters Point Shipyard (a shuttered naval base closed due to extensive environmental contamination), the men work as recyclers within daily proximity to hazardous waste.
