Coasting is the perfect band name for shoe-gazey, dream-pop kind of music. It ellicits that kind of ‘meh, whatever’ quality that bands like Real Estate or Best Coast pull off so well. It’s no surprise that this two-piece girl band includes Vivian Girls’ drummer- Fiona Campbell, and friend Madison Farmer.

The two girls don’t mind the distance between their two homes in Portland and Memphis- because from the looks of it, they seem intent of having fun. Their debut record “You’re Never Going Back” came out via M’Ladys and was equal parts badass and charming, its the kind of record made among friends. Without that pressure to get big, the girls are free to just stick to the art, which is exactly what they did with their new video for “Portland” that premiered on GvsB today, following a claymation journey through space.
