Booooooom Submissions / December

submit your work to booooooom

Thank you to everyone who submitted their work in the November Submissions post last month. There was so much good stuff in there, I’m still going through it all!

Big thanks also to everyone who left encouraging comments and upvoted the work they liked (it’s really helpful for me to see what you guys like).

So here it is, the December Submissions post! This is where you can share your work during the month of December. The comments are enabled to allow images so make sure post an image along with a link to your website.

Here’s our guidelines:

1. Please don’t flood the comments with a dozen images, just post 1 image that represents your best work along with 1 link.

2. If you see good work posted by someone upvote it so it appears at the top. This is not just a nice thing to do, it helps me see what work you actually like.

3. You can/should also encourage people who are sharing good work here! Comment on their posts and let them know you like what they’re doing. I really want to foster a community here, and this is a simple way you can connect with other people making work.

4. Keep in mind your post may not show up right away because it has an image attached. It may need to be manually approved first so don’t freak out and post a million times, once is enough.

Thank you for taking the time Michael

  • Michael Marefka

All of your work has such great form!

  • Michael Marefka

Could you post details of your process?

    • Matt Sabourin

I wish I could give you a straightforward answer, but there isn’t… partially because every company has a different ink recipe and obviously doesn’t want to share the details (so experimentation is necessary… either the blue or pink line will stay depending on the technique, or the paper will either yellow or decompose… these were some problems with popular companies like Hilroy, for example). With this particular paper (unfortunately this company closed down a couple of years ago), it was basically bathing the sheets a few times in a solution consisting mainly of rubbing alcohol, conserving said solution, and letting it evaporate/be reduced on a hot plate over a few days until I could achieve an ink-like color/consistency.

  • Michael Marefka

I really like your color range and choice of lighting.

I find value and wonder in the drawn line.
I create drawings that are austere, precise, concerned with process.
Pencil is applied to paper in a systematic and meditative approach.
The result: calm, subtle work of detail and design.

  • Tamer Aslan

CUOR my design concept for Alessi in Love competition. In a brief summary, it’s a love token in the form of a necklace, where you can put and keep the heartbeat of your beloved one inside.

Once a heartbeat is stored, CUOR remembers it forever. When
you take it into your hands, it brings the heartbeat back and starts
beating with the same rhythm of the person that represents love for you. This way, it becomes a symbolic embodiment of what love means to its owner.

  • Gutter Magic

A character in which self worth is almost everything, the importance of attention and conformity combined creates a juxtaposition within a personality which contradicts the perception and realisation of who a person is. The distorted mirror image he perceives may be one of altruism as where we see selfishness. A lack of empathy with the world and persons around is evident, as the effort is always half, half the time, half the significance, half the thought; and in a sense, we, the persons, must only be worth half, of the person he is.
