“Yosemite” by Photographer Ian Ruhter

ian-ruhter-yosemite

That little guy up on that cliff there is one of the most passionate photographers I’ve ever met. His name is Ian Ruhter and unless you’ve been living under a rock you’re already familiar with his Silver and Light project that’s seen his life savings become an old delivery truck / giant mobile camera. If this is news to you watch this, and this, and read about the time I met him in Vancouver.

Ian’s latest film sees him, and his co-conspirators Lane and Will, return to Yosemite a year and a half after what Ian calls his biggest failure in his life. “Yosemite” is a huge milestone in Ian’s inspiring project. Watch the video below!

Directed by Lauren Vance and Lane Power.

  • I need that today! Thanks Ian.

two thoughts come to mind watching this: 1 people’s reaction to camera obscura is always awesome! the wonderment and magic from something so simple what a great job to have to get to be inside a giant camera every day. 2 daguerreotype or plate photography is a different animal to regular photography altogether. not only the one off singularity of it but the entire process of chemistry and art and engineering involved it must encourage such a unique perspective. i feel really inspired by this guy. dope post jeff!
