I was introduced to John Copeland’s work a few years ago when I bought a great book called Drawing From Life: The Journal As Art.
I visited his site this week, and I was surprised to see how different his recent work is compared to his work from a few years ago. It’s still pretty dark.
My friend Sasha wrote a great piece on Jesse Auersalo in a recent issue of Beautiful/Decay. Love this style.
Illustrator Ville Savimaa has a style pretty unlike anything I’ve seen. Love the Easter-ish colours in this first one.
The Jeff Death series by illustrator Matt Lee is a set of covers for books that do not exist, by an author that does not exist. His intent is to “mythologize a fictitious author”, with the titles of the books (which come from old songs) offering up a sort of narrative of their own.
