Audrey Louise Reynolds studied painting, photography, and film, while working as a cook, and her interests in all those areas sort of meshed together as she started to hand dye fabrics. New York Times called her “the fashion world’s artisanal fabric dyer” and The Selby recently followed her around as she created some of her work. Watch the video below.
My talented friends Dan Scheinert and Dan Kwan (director duo DANIELS) have just released an obscene masterpiece. It is over the top in the best way and a perfect fit for Dj Snake and Lil Jon’s song “Turn Down For What”.
Dan Kwan co-directs and stars in this video (both Daniels danced in that Pharrell video), and having partied with them at Kirsten Lepore’s house on Halloween I can tell you this video is pretty much a documentary, they dance like this in real life.
Enjoy the video in all its glory below. PS – I was on my way to Ireland when this video came out so I’m a little late on it (it’s been like a week, chill).
All you filmmakers out there this is how you put a Red Epic camera and Leica lenses to good use. In my opinion, the visuals in this video don’t go with the music at all, but the visuals are so spectacular it’s still worth watching.
I just wish videos like this didn’t always veer into the territory of “look what we can shoot in slow motion” instead of actually considering the song or story. The snow scenes don’t really seem to fit at all, and actually they kinda make this seem like a lookbook for whatever jacket the guy is wearing.
I think it’s a lot better if you mute the video and listen to something like this. Watch “Dreamin” below.
This short by Royal College of Art student, Sarina Nihei, is hand-drawn animation perfection. The Japanese-born animator has created a masterpiece, and from what I understand it’s her first-year film?! That’s enough to make me want to put everything I made in school in a pile, and set fire to it (I was maybe going to do that this weekend anyways).
The uneasy universe of the story is brilliantly brought to life by sound designer Pat Hime. This is one of those things you watch and as you are watching it you already know it is your favourite.
