F5: New York City / Free Tickets!

All you New Yorkers this one’s for you! F5 Fest is going down April 16-17 in New York and you do not want to miss it! Speakers include contemporary photographer Charlie White (I would go just to see him), Psyop, Dvein, Jonah Lehrer, Imaginary Forces, BBDO NY, to name a few. The tickets go for $280 each, and I have a pair to give away! I’m tempted to fly out there and use them myself! Did I mention the event has an open bar?

If you want the tickets (and live in the area) leave a comment on this post! A winner will be randomly selected Sunday night! Don’t say I didn’t ever do anything nice for you guys – I expect one of you to let me sleep on your apartment floor if I ever get out to NYC! Thanks to Justin of Motionographer for the tickets!

Show your face around here!

A lot of you have been asking how to get your own image next to your comments – just head over to Gravatar. Give ‘em your email and upload a pic. Boom, done. Now your image will show up on any websites that use these globally recognized avatars! Just make sure you use that email address when you leave a comment!

You also have the ability to “reply” to each other now. Should make conversations a little easier. Enjoy.

“Sticker on your face” winners!

A few days ago roughly 80 of you participated in our “Sticker on your face” contest, on our Facebook Fan Page. Congratulations to David Henry Thomas and Stephen James Mellor! You were selected (using random.org) as the winners of the sticker packages, and somehow both of you ended being from Norwich (England)? The stickers are on their way, put ‘em to good use!

Hot keys!

In case you haven’t noticed, we’ve added a few “hot keys” (aka “keyboard shortcuts“) for your convenience (aka laziness). The letters also stand for “totally badass, just kidding!” which is the new motto for the site. Enjoy.

Facebook Fan Page!

Today we launch our Facebook Fan Page! This will not replace the Facebook Group, it’s just that Facebook actually prevents me from sending out updates now due to our size (5000+). I have planned a bunch of projects and other fun things and they’ll all be more successful if I can quickly update all of you about them. So join the Fan Page if you want to show your support for the site and especially if you want to be involved in any of our upcoming projects or even help plan some of them.

The Facebook Group will continue to be the place to promote yourself and post links to things you think will inspire others!

Thank you, Field Notes!

Yesssssss! Another nice package showed up at my door, this time goodies from Field Notes (a DDC/Coudal product). Now let me start off by saying, I am a fairly early adapter in terms of new technologies and gadgets. I twitter from my Blackberry, and I’ve even updated my Facebook status using my Wii (just once, because I could). But there is no better feeling than jotting down ideas in a good old notebook with your favourite pen or pencil. I love it. Field Notes sent me over a stack of little notebooks. Beautifully simple packaging. Blank, lined, graph paper, several styles. Pencils, rubber bands, even a calendar. Thanks you guys, they will be put to good use!
