Photographer Ian Ruhter / Silver & Light Vancouver

You might recall, last April I wrote about Ian Ruhter’s incredible project where he took his life savings and turned an old delivery truck into a giant mobile camera. Ruhter designed his camera to produce enormous images with silver and light using an old photographic technique called a wet plate collodion process. Watch the videos here and here.

Last month he was here in Vancouver, with his truck, and a talented crew made up of Lane Power, Madeline Druce, and Will Eichelberger. The team spent an entire month here, driving the truck to random locations, making wet plates, and meeting as many people as they could.

My friend Maurice and I caught up with them in the lower east side as they were making the portrait that Ian (left) is holding in the image above.

A couple days later they invited us to their house and we got to see stacks of images they created while they were here. Take a look below!
