What is the first word that comes to mind when I say “China”? Whatever the word was, I’d venture a guess that it wasn’t the word “art” (or maybe it was art because my title gave it away). Well, there is a lot of change happening over in China right now and I found this little video over at Current quite interesting, as it offers a little peek at their growing contemporary art scene.

I am always scouring the net for fun little comics and one of my favourites of this last year has been Jeremyville’s comic for Mumble Magazine. It isn’t updated as frequently as it used to be, but take a look through the 15 or so comics in the archive – they are so so so good. One of my favourites has to be this one (it was too large to squeeze onto here).

Darren Waterston’s work is beautifully surreal. He works with oils as well as watercolor, and sometimes he even incorporates letterpress and other elements. I’ll let the work speak for itself.

Keeping with the laser theme my good friend, Damion Silver sent me over some sample photos of the laser-etched skateboards he created. I believe there will be an extremely limited run available on Digital Gravel next week! Stay tuned! Now all we need is some sharks with frickin’ lasers attached to their heads.
