Works by artists Yayoi Kusama and Ai Weiwei come alive in this amazing short exploring the use of 3D rendering to create new versions of existing work. Check it out below!
Latvian filmmaker, Gints Zilbalodis, manages to capture a lot of emotion in his latest short about a trumpet player, struggling to cope with the loss of his hearing after a freak accident. Great use of sound and music by Bertrams Pauls Purvišķis as well. Watch the full video below!
Another flawless animation by London-based 2d and 3d animator Simon Landrein. This one for Silkie’s “Love Affair”. His style is so recognizable now, and he just knows how to pare down everything to just what’s necessary to tell a story. Fantastic work. Watch the animation below.
If you’re gonna be in Vancouver October 16 + 17, I’ve been invited to speak at a two-day festival here called Blend. It sounds like it’s going to be more of a party than a conference, for lovers of animation but also other creative things too (at least I hope so otherwise they’re going to be severely disappointed when they realise I’m not an animator).
Tickets are available at http://blendfest.ca.
Quite a unique style to this animation by Oleg Morozow and Arkady Kravchouk (The Happy Drummers) graduates of Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design in Jerusalem. Apparently the effect was achieved through a combination of 3D animation and the use of an old printer. Watch the animation below.
