I’m a big fan of Jeff Soto and was planning to post about his work in the near future and then I saw this great little time-lapse of him painting The Corruption Of Mankind. It’s a 12′ x 5′ piece for his solo show at the Riverside Art Museum. Love it.

I can’t believe I didn’t know about Art of the Title until now. It is a fantastic site chronicling film title sequences and, if you are into films at all, you will be stuck over there for awhile. I had to watch the titles from Brazil as it’s possibly my favourite film of all time (top three anyways), and when I did, I noticed something for the first time.
Below is the sequence of frames that caught my eye – this perfectly illustrates the creativity present throughout the film. A man walks by a window and as he passes it the window explodes and instead of simply jump-cutting to the explosion there is a hand-painted animation of the man exploding for like 7 frames! I love stuff like this – going the extra mile to really sell the illusion in a low-budget/hand-made kinda way. Take a look:
