The 20 Most Memorable Music Videos of 2015

20musicvideos-2015

Here’s my picks for the 20 best, most creative, funny, beautiful, memorable videos of 2015. I don’t believe any other sites chose the video I picked for Video of the Year. It took me awhile to edit this down from a list I had of 50 or so videos. Hope you find a couple that you overlooked this year, and if you disagree with my list, let me what your top 20 is in the comments. FKA Twigs is not on this list so let the disagreements begin.

Giveaway: Vinyl Moon

VINYLMOON-05VINYLMOON-07VINYLMOON-06VINYLMOON-04

I think it’s safe to say these are the most deluxe mixtapes ever made. Music blogger Brandon Bogajewicz’s concept behind the Vinyl Moon project is simple: Subscribers get a new mixtape mailed to them each month, on limited edition vinyl, with beautiful packaging by a new different designer.

The images above are of Volume 3, featuring packaging designed by Clint Soren. You can see volumes 1 and 2 (designed by Joseph Veazey and Keith Negley respectively) below.

So if you’re a music lover, today’s your lucky day! We have two prizes for Booooooom readers: 1 set of volumes 1-3 (sold out) and 1 three-month subscription to Vinyl Moon. All you have to do is leave a comment below with the name of a song that you think Brandon should include on an upcoming mixtape! I’ll let him pick 2 winners on December 18th.

The First-Ever Booooooom T-Shirt Designed by Wakana Yamazaki (Only Available Until Thursday)

WAKANA-YAMAZAKI-TEE0WAKANA-YAMAZAKI-TEE5

Hello my friends, I’m excited to announce the start of something new! Today we launch our Booooooom Shop which will feature exclusive items from time to time.

We’re kicking things off with a t-shirt designed for us by emerging Japanese illustrator Wakana Yamazaki. We wanted to pick someone who wasn’t very well known (this will be one of the themes of the shop) and someone whose work looks like it came from another planet. Her style is so original – never seen anything like it.

The t-shirt is $25 and only available as a pre-order until Thursday June 4th 11:59 PST. It will never be sold again.

One of our goals is to release limited edition products but also allow for everyone who wants them to have them. In essence these products will be both limited and unlimited. So if you want this piece of history, the first-ever Booooooom Artist Series t-shirt, this is your chance.

Booooooom Reader Submissions: March

march-submissions-600

With all that’s been going on, the project we have coming up in Barcelona, and the release of our art/skate film with the Zenga Bros, I completely forgot to put up this month’s Reader Submissions post!

For those that don’t already know, this is the best way to submit your work to be considered for a post on Booooooom. Thanks again to everyone for up-voting work you like and leaving the positive comments to each other, it really pumps people up, and helps me see what work you like. I encourage you to share your work here because these posts get a lot of traffic and even if your work is not a fit for Booooooom it still gets seen, and definitely sends traffic to your own websites.

Please share your work here this month. The comments allow images to be attached so make sure post an image along with a link to your website.

Submission guidelines:

1. Please don’t flood the comments with a dozen images, just post 1 image that represents your best work along with 1 link.

2. If you see good work posted by someone upvote it so it appears at the top. This is not just a nice thing to do, it helps me see what work you actually like.

3. You can/should also encourage people who are sharing good work here! Comment on their posts and let them know you like what they’re doing. I really want to foster a community here, and this is a simple way you can connect with other people making work.

4. Keep in mind your post may not show up right away because it has an image attached. It may need to be manually approved first so don’t freak out and post a million times, once is enough.

Booooooom Party Radio: Interview with Go Yama

go-yama-interview

I’m excited to share with you this interview and exclusive mix for Booooooom by Garrett “Scooter” Oyama, aka Go Yama. I came across Go Yama’s incredible cover of Flying Lotus’ “Putty Boy Strut” a couple months ago and found myself listening to it over and over and over. This feature came directly out of my obsession with this song.

I’m always hunting around on Soundcloud for up and coming artists, and producers. If you would like to nominate yourself or someone else for a feature like this, please share a link to a Soundcloud page in the comments! Listen to the mix and read the full interview below.

Thanks to everyone who submitted work last month to the January Submissions post. I still have so much to go through (good problem). I say a variation of this every month but I’m always amazed how many talented Booooooom readers there are, and how there can be so many whose work I’ve never seen before. Keep those submisisons coming!
