YES. FINALLY. In all my running around and vacationing during August I missed the exciting announcement that a Criterion edition of Bottle Rocket will finally be released on November 25th 2008. Of course it will get the full Criterion treatment and come with extras galore, including the original thirteen-minute black-and-white Bottle Rocket short film from 1992.
A little while ago I recieved an email from Rodolfo Naka, a Brazilian graphic designer and member of a Brazilian art collective called Idéia Forte. Nakakubo and the collective just finished up a great documentary about contemporary Brazilian artist, Bruno 9Li. This is a must-watch.
Wired has compiled a great list of 10 environmentally friendly, some downright ludicrous, concept cars. You can be sure that none of these will be headed to your local dealership, but it’s really cool to see stuff like this. When I worked for Electronic Arts I worked in the concept art department and it was kinda sad knowing that 99% of what was created there wouldn’t really be seen by anyone outside of the building.
Anyone else here a fan of the Prototypes? I’ve had their song “Je ne te connais pas” on repeat quite a bit this year, as well as “I cay you can’t stop” by a band called Nelson. Both bands are from Paris and both videos incorporate fragmenting of the screen in one form or another. First up is the Prototypes’ video directed by Oliver “Twist” Gondry (Michel’s brother).
I remember lying on my stomach for hours next to a huge Styrofoam cooler (once use for packing salmon – yes it was HUGE) filled with Lego. When I’d finally get up to eat dinner I’d have the carpet texture tattooed on both my elbows. To call me a fan of Lego during those years would be the understatement of the 21st century. So you can imagine my reaction when I saw these…
First of all, I just want to say thank you to all you regular readers of the site, you’ve really made this site something I look forward to updating everyday. Moving forward, I’m going to devote even more time to the site because, well, this baby is still growing at an alarming rate. 170,000 views in the past two months is no joke! Big thanks to all the sponsors/advertisers for helping offset my site costs.
In honor of the huge increase of spam in the comments section (none of which actually shows up thanks to the wonderful akismet plugin) and the appearance of spam text messages on my freakin cell phone (how?) I am heading to the spam capital of the world (the other kind!). If anyone needs me I’ll be getting tanned and jacked in Maui for the week.
I’ve pre-written a few posts, so there will continue to be new content posted while I’m away. As soon as I return I’ll post up the Project #3 gallery (had some great submissions already)! Oh, and keep your eyes peeled, I’ve got a bunch of fun stuff planned for the upcoming months.
