This is the third video we produced for MTV and Sony Xperia, and it features Little Scream! Nada and I are huuuge fans of hers so this really was a dream come true to have her be a part of this project.
In keeping with the unconventional instruments theme, we paired up Little Scream with sound designers Lo and Joseph and circuit benders from Toronto’s InterAccess Electronic Media Arts Center! Together they completely reinvented her song “Canons”. Albert Huh did a superb job capturing this performance. He’s been filming and editing all the videos in this series, and deserves a massive shout out!
Hopefully this video pumps you up to spend the weekend building your own instruments! You still have a week or so to get your submissions in, and remember we’re giving away Sony Xperia phones and Booooooom goodies as prizes!
If you wanna get involved jump over here.
You can see the full gallery of submissions here.
“Contact mics inside the broom head amplify the sounds of the bristles playing over the log. The bristles act like a needle on a record player, or keys on a music box. The song is determined by the density of texture on the surface of the rotating log.”

Last week our Facebook Page hit 100,000! If it’s alright with you I’d like to celebrate this milestone with a whole bunch of giveaways! Thanks for hanging around on Booooooom every day, thanks for getting involved in the projects, and thanks for sending me all your friendly tweets and emails!
Here’s what’s up for grabs:

The response to the giveaways has been insane lately! The two recent ones had more than 1,000 comments each!? I’m not gonna lie it’s been getting a little bit tough for me to go through so many entries every time, so I’m gonna try out a widget that should help me out!
To enter our giveaways you will leave comments as you normally would and the widget will also offer you a couple more ways to earn additional entries! More importantly for me, it will keep track of them all efficiently.
Enough dilly-dallying, I have a 16 GB iPad 2 to giveaway. Who wants it?
