Transformative work by South African artist Faith47. Her first solo show, Aqua Regalia – Chapter Two, runs from November 19th to December 19th at the Jonathan LeVine Gallery in New York City. “Aqua Regalia” refers to the alchemical process of dissolving gold. Using a variety of materials and techniques (graphite, spray paint, ink, photography, collage, found objects), Faith’s work is concerned with the valuation and transformation of things that have been lost or overlooked. Malin Gabriella Nordin is one of my absolute favourite artists, as evidence by the sheer sheer of times I’ve posted about her (here, here, here, here, here). I came across this wonderful video after posting the Anton Alvarez profile from the same Vans Documentary Series a couple days ago. This is honestly one of the best artist profiles I’ve seen (all credit to Vincent Skoglund who beautifully captured it). It got me super pumped to go and make stuff, and I could relate so much to her and her desire to create quickly!
I’m so inspired! Highly recommend watching this video below!
Ophir Kutiel aka Kutiman, is the Youtube generation’s DJ Shadow. He scours Youtube for obscure musical treasures; kids playing piano, guitar tutorials, anything he can use to make a song. Somehow he is able to weave the unrelated clips into something completely new. I’ve blogged about him numerous times but it all started with his project Thru You.
5 years later, Kutiman is set to release his follow up, Thru You Too, and his first single “Give It Up” is a masterpiece. Watch the video below!
