Treading Water

I am going to admit to you all now that I failed Red, which was the third level of swimming at the time. I don’t think they use a color system now, but I am sure they still require you to be able to stay above the water – or as those buoyant people like to call it “treading water”. I guess I should thank all my elementary school friends for having all of their birthday parties at the wave pool (a.k.a. Hell) because eventually I was able to teach myself to tread water.

I came across the work of Sam Green recently and despite my childhood of tsunami-like birthday parties, I found them to be quite beautiful. These are pencil on paper, folks. Real talent.

Eamo’s knuckle sandwich.

If Illustration had its own Olympics (idea copyrighted by Jeff Hamada 2008) , Eamo Donnelly could certainly captain the Australians to Olympic gold. He uses good old-fashion inks, brushes and pencils to start and finishes digitally. Great work with a unique look.
