Instagram Show & Tell: Jennilee Marigomen shares her favourite image by Nguan

“Show & Tell” is an ongoing series where we invite talented people to highlight a work by someone they admire on Instagram. If you would like to be considered for this series, leave a comment below with a link to your own Instagram.

Vancouver-based photographer Jennilee Marigomen selected this image of Petra Collins by Singaporean photographer Nguan.

Jennilee writes: “What excites me about a photo the most is when unrelated things line up and make the entire image beautiful. The pink light in the room to the left, the framed (stunning) photo on the right, her outfit, the expression on her face, the blue wads of tape, and the complimentary colours and unusual composition that ties it all together. It looks like a film still from a few decades ago.”

The Liberia Pure Honey Project

liberiapurehoney-08Feathered Form (2015), Jennifer Latour

My friends, photographers Andrew Querner and Nich McElroy, have just launched The Liberia Pure Honey Project. It’s a benefit exhibition in support of Universal Outreach Foundation’s ongoing work in Liberia, West Africa. In cooperation with the Liberia Beekeepers Association, UOF has organized the country’s first beekeeper training program and helped create Liberia Pure Honey, a social enterprise that buys, packages, and sells Liberian honey in local grocery stores. In the wake of the ebola crisis, UOF and Liberia Pure Honey are well positioned to make a lasting and meaningful contribution to the nation’s economic recovery.

All proceeds from the sale of limited edition prints will be donated directly to UOF and earmarked for the support and expansion of their beekeeper training program. Following the exhibition’s opening on March 5th in Vancouver, all works will be available for purchase from the Liberia Pure Honey tumblr.

There have been so many beautiful images donated to this project, and by many of my favourite photographers! Take a look at more images below.

Book Giveaway: Jennilee Marigomen “Window Seat”

I’m excited for my friend, photographer Jennilee Marigomen, who is set to release her first book entitled “Window Seat” on Friday, September 26th at Make. The delicate images in the book describe a trip to Mexico in a way that only she could. Her work is understated, and I find the quiet beauty she draws out of each little moment intensely personal.

She has kindly offered to give away two signed copies of “Window Seat” to Booooooom readers. What I propose is that you all hop over to her Instagram @jennileem, have a look around, and then come back here and leave a comment about an image from her feed that really speaks to you.

I’ll let her pick a couple winners on the September 25th, the day before her book is released. Have a look at more images of her book below, and remember to leave a comment for a chance to snag a copy.

Instagram Takeover: Jennilee Marigomen

instagram takeover: jennilee marigomen

I’m very excited to welcome Vancouver-based photographer, and friend, Jennilee Marigomen @jennileem as the next guest poster on our @Booooooom Instagram account.

She was one of the earliest supporters of this blog, and has become one of my favourite photographers over the years. I love her ability to find beauty in the mundane, and the quality of light she captures. If the pacific northwest has a photographic style she effortlessly embodies it.

Follow us if you want to see what she posts over the next 7 days, and make sure you follow her personal account as well.
