Right Away Great Captain

The third and final chapter of Right Away Great Captain’s trilogy meets it’s end with the release of “The Church of the Good Thief” out today. There is something deeply familiar about Andy Hull’s voice, after spending some time getting to know him and his band, Manchester Orchestra with my previous job – his catalogue of records have become so nostalgic to me that every one of them sounds like coming home. They sound like all the strange and wonderful places I’ve seen them play.

The video below is a debut of a new track from a Bad Books record – for those unfamiliar, Andy Hull is apart of RAGC, Bad Books and Manchester Orchestra at once. There’s a brotherhood that binds him to all of these musical projects, and each one is the combined effort of friendship among his bandmates. Similarly to another one of my favourite artists, Dave Bazan, Hull’s burden to seek out what truth means to him means that every record is a scar of that pursuit.

I suggest you pick up the new record.

Simple Math

“Simple Math” by Manchester Orchestra has to be one of the best music videos I’ve seen in years. This is a landmark for director duo Daniel Scheinert and Dan Kwan (aka DANIELS) whose work up until now has been style over substance but they found a perfect balance here. A+
