Zelda hip hop remixes!

This is ridiculous. Team Teamwork just dropped 10 remixes using music from Zelda! The image below has nothing to do with the project but the album artwork was so wack I decided to post this instead. The remix of Aesop Rock’s No Jumper Cables using the music from Goron Village is perfect.

Flying Lotus / Essential Mix

I finally got around to listening to the Flying Lotus Essential Mix and it lives up to all the hype! This is experimental hip hop done right – a fantastic two-hour adventure. Flying Lotus hails from California and is signed to Warp (if you are familiar with Warp you will know what you’re in for). The mix fittingly starts off with Galaxy in Turiya by Alice Coltrane, wife of John Coltrane and Flying Lotus’ great aunt!

Beastie Boys Live – PART 2

Not exactly hot on the heels of Beastie Boys Live – PART 1, but here is the next installment nonetheless. If you haven’t already grabbed Live in Australia ‘99 and the Demo version of Paul’s Boutique do that first. Next up is Live in London – Wembley Stadium, also from 1999. Sound quality is the name of the game here so this is another one that is likely direct from soundboard or possibly from the feed that went out to radio.

Once again these photos were taken by Maya Hayuk, a fantastic artist whose work I am a huge fan of.

Paul’s Boutique Demos!

“People ask me when my tape is comin’ out yall well here it is yall and its clout!” I was gonna continue the Beastie Boys Live series and then I decided to switch things up this week and share some demo songs with you! Specifically demos from Paul’s Boutique! 12 tracks including Full Clout which is an early version of Shake Your Rump.

This album is widely regarded as Beastie Boys best work to date, and one of the greatest albums of all time. I agree with half of that statement. It is one of the greatest albums of all time, but I don’t feel like it can be considered their best work. They are simply rapping over other people’s work (in this case brilliant production from the Dust Brothers) so in that sense it’s no different than License to Ill. To me, their next three albums (Check Your Head, Ill Communication, and Hello Nasty) have to be their best work as they most accurately describe their talent as actual musicians. I personally like Ill Communication the best, feel free to disagree (just know that you are wrong).

Let’s just get to the music shall we? You probably skipped that entire paragraph anyways…

Beastie Boys Live – PART 1

Back when I was blogging on Hypebeast I used to post live Beastie Boys concerts in mp3 every now and then. Since then I have recieved many requests from people to start doing so again. Today is your lucky day. First up is the Sydney Australia show from 1999. This bootleg is direct from soundboard I believe so the sound quality is A+.

Better be quick to grab this while it’s up and stay tuned for more, I have about 5 data discs full of concerts. The photo is courtesy of Maya Hayuk and has nothing to do with the concert but I love her work and this series of photos especially. Click “more” for the link.
