Last month I completely missed posting this fantastic video by director Jesse Kanda and producer Arca. I’ve featured Kanda’s work before and Arca you may know from that mind-melting &&&&& mixtape. The two have created a feast for the ears and eyes for SSENSE.
Enjoy “Fluid Silhouettes” below.
After finding the “Red Dust” video below, I poked around on James Vincent McMorrow’s site. He wrote that he reached out to Aoife McArdle immediately after seeing her video for Jon Hopkins’ “Open Eye Signal”. So I had to watch it too, and wow, what an experience! Certainly one of the best videos this year.
I don’t know if I’ve ever posted back to back music video written and directed by the same person. Needless to say, Aoife McArdle is one to watch, and so is the DP, Steve Annis.
Watch “Open Eye Signal” below.
Aoife McArdle has written and directed a trilogy of films for James Vincent McMorrow’s album, “Post-Tropical”. This is the second film, and it’s a beauty. If you’re at work or whatever, there’s a wee bit of nudity.
Watch “Red Dust” below.
I don’t think I’ve seen a video that better captures the adventure of being a kid. Zenga Bros directed this beauty for Saintseneca and it’s powerful because it’s made from years of their own personal footage. You don’t need the latest cameras you just need to make work about things you know. One of my favourites of the year.
Watch the official music video for “Visions” below!
I don’t know if you remember SOUR, but several years ago they made a music video that is probably in my top 10 of all time (see it here). After seeing this one I do have to put them in the “OK Go” category though, their video concepts really outshine their music.
This video isn’t on the level of their previous one, but using spinning cds to make animations is pretty awesome. Watch the video below!
