The film Disney jacked for Aladdin.

The Thief and the Cobbler is quite possibly the best animated film ever made and most people still haven’t ever seen it – unless you went to school for animation, in which case you have a burned copy of this on your desk somewhere. The Thief and the Cobbler holds the record for the longest film production EVER at 31 years. Canadian animator Richard Williams (animation director of Who Framed Roger Rabbit) spent 26 years of his life trying to get his film completed only to have another company assume control of it and “finish” it without him. You can read the full story here.

Last year this cut of the film surfaced on the net. A fan, Garrett Gilchrist, actually cut this together using footage from the various versions of the film that had been released, as well as clips from an original uncut workprint. The result is a version of the film closest to Williams’ original. This is only Part 1 – you can view the entire film on youtube.
