Andrew Hem

I was absolutely blown away when I came across the work of Andrew Hem while browsing Steve Kim’s site. There aren’t too many illustrators out there with such a wide variety of styles in their arsenal. Some pieces are quite loose and painterly, and others are really crisp and precise.

Steve Kim

I quite like these bizarre paintings by Steve Kim. Very interesting style, lots of negative space – kinda like seeing the early stages of an Ian Francis painting.

Aaron Noble

I posted about Aaron Noble back in April and was happy to read an email from him recently, letting me know he just updated his website. If I could have any artist paint me a giant mural today, it’d be a toss-up between him and Anthony Lister. I could stare at this stuff all day.

Russ Mills

Great mixed media work by illustrator Russ Mills. Kinda like Ian Francis with a sprinkle of Jackson Pollock (I never knew about this site! I could waste so much time here). Love this stuff.

Camilla d’Errico

More talent coming outta Vancouver. Camilla d’Errico is tearing up the manga/comic book scene right now and was another artist I had the privilege of sharing wall space with, during Brave Art. She has really developed her own style into something that I like to call “girls with animals on their heads” style. My favourite is this piece below “Eve”.

Lauren Javor

Gorgeous paintings by Whistler BC resident, Lauren Javor. I had the privilege of showing my work along side hers as part of this year’s Brave Art Shows. I literally joined her fan club the minute I walked into the gallery and saw her work hanging on the wall.

Miguel Ornia-Blanco

Miguel recently contacted me to check out his portfolio and the minute I saw his work I realised I had actually bookmarked it quite some time ago. He is half english and half spanish and his work is as much inspired by London as it is Buenos Aires.

Seonna Hong

I’ve been interested in writing and illustrating a children’s book for some time now and whenever I come across work like this it goes into “the folder” for reference. Seonna Hong has got some great little paintings and she also has an Emmy. How many painters out there can say they’ve got an Emmy? Ok you’re right, anyone could “say” they’ve got an Emmy (why you gotta argue with me all the time?).
