Log Paintings by Artist Alison Moritsugu

Moritsugu7

New York-based artist Alison Moritsugu’s log paintings are so meta your head might explode. The wood used in her log series are collected from the areas depicted on the landscapes she paints on them. The salvaged logs have all also fallen naturally and contribute to a larger environmental statement about our idealized and mistaken beliefs that the wilderness will always be there. Bad Day: 12-Year-Old Kid Falls in Museum and Punches Hole Through $1.5 Million Painting

If you’re having a bad day today, just be glad you aren’t this kid. At an art exhibition in Taipei called “Face of Leonardo: Images of a Genius”, a 12-year-old Taiwanese boy tripped and fell into a 350-year-old oil painting by Paolo Porpora, putting his hand right through the artwork. The painting called “Flowers” is valued at $1.5 million. (source)

Hopefully the gallery staff have some duct tape! Photos of the damage below!
