We’ve featured Micah Ganske on the site a couple times (see here and here). Check out this video portrait, directed by Alex Amoling as part of Distinct’s doc series, to see why. In addition to offering a great introduction to his work (which combines elements of 3D printing/sci-fi/virtual reality with sculpture/painting), Ganske shares wonderful insight into his creative process and how his drive toward experimentation staves off creative blocks and cultivates the kind of inspiration that evolves gradually over time. New York-based artist Alison Moritsugu’s log paintings are so meta your head might explode. The wood used in her log series are collected from the areas depicted on the landscapes she paints on them. The salvaged logs have all also fallen naturally and contribute to a larger environmental statement about our idealized and mistaken beliefs that the wilderness will always be there. Wonderful portrait of artist, Geoff McFetridge, by Dress Code. The short video gives great insight into how McFetridge approaches his own work as well as a peek into some of the preparation that went into his current show, “It Looks Like it Says” (on view at Joshua Liner Gallery until October 10th).
