Enjoyed this profile on skateboarder turned painter Brian Lotti, discussing the similarities between skating and painting. Watch the video below.
Enjoyed this profile on New York’s next generation of hip hop artists. Action Bronson, The Flatbush Zombies, The Underachievers, and openly gay rapper Le1f are interviewed in this short, beautifully shot and directed by Robert Lopuski. Watch the film “We’re Gonna Be Lords” below.
Really enjoying this series called, California Inspires Me, a collaboration between Google Play and California Sunday. A creative person is interviewed for each episode and then an animator creates visuals to go with the person’s voice. Last time I posted about this series it was Jack Black talking about growing up in California; this time it’s Mark Mothersbaugh animated by Barcelona-based studio, Manson. Watch the animation below.
Cool Hunting offers a delightful peek into the creative headquarters of DEVO founder, Mark Mothersbaugh. The award-winning Hollywood composer has accumulated quite a collection of synths; I feel like Moog fans would have a heart attack if they stepped foot inside this building.
This is worth watching if for no other reason than to know what “we smell sausage” becomes when its played backwards! Mothersbaugh is crazy in the most lovable way; I really hope that the Mark Mothersbaugh-designed theme park Wes Anderson talked about will become a reality. Really enjoyed this. Watch the video below.
The Creator Class has just released another video in their five-part documentary series, A New Breed. This first one features Rabi, one half of the art collective CYRCLE, making work in Miami during Basel. The video also features MADSTEEZ, NYCHOS, and several others. Watch “Fresh Paint” below.
