Today we launch our Facebook Fan Page! This will not replace the Facebook Group, it’s just that Facebook actually prevents me from sending out updates now due to our size (5000+). I have planned a bunch of projects and other fun things and they’ll all be more successful if I can quickly update all of you about them. So join the Fan Page if you want to show your support for the site and especially if you want to be involved in any of our upcoming projects or even help plan some of them.
The Facebook Group will continue to be the place to promote yourself and post links to things you think will inspire others!
The postcards are here and they are beautiful!!! The much anticipated finale to our insanely huge PROJECT # 5 – Free Encouragement. Thank you to all of you who submitted designs to Erin (designformankind) and to the hundreds of you who submitted encouraging words during the first part of the project! You can get these very limited edition postcards at our ETSY SHOP! Better hurry, once they’re gone, they’re gone.
The postcards are all beautifully printed, gloss finish, and come in packs of 5 – each individually sealed and then shipped in a stiff cardboard package so they won’t be all bent when you get them.

Here is Booooooom Project #7! Alter a magazine cover! Find a magazine cover (a person’s face is a great starting point). Alter the image using pen, pencils, paint, scissors, whatever! Take a photo of your creation! No digital work – get off your computer! This took me 2 minutes, you can will do a better job!
Upload your photo using the form below!
Here’s the first bunch of great “pixel portraits” submitted to Project #6! I especially like the ones from the few films I don’t recognize. If you’re gonna submit one, get in nice and close to the screen or zoom in – the more pixelated the better (instructions here) See how many you know…
Here is Booooooom Project #6! Pixel Portraits! Throw on one of your favourite movies. Pause it. Pull out your camera (make sure the flash is off). Snap a portrait of one of the actors (depending on your shutter speed you may need to try several times before you get one without a dark bar moving across the image).
Upload your photo using the form below! Make sure you include your name but don’t worry about including the movie title or character’s name, part of the fun will be everyone else trying to guess. Once there are several submissions I will post the gallery and the guessing game can begin.
I don’t want screenshots from a computer, I want portraits shot with a camera in all their pixelated glory!
Do you know the title of this movie? The character’s name? (Bonus points awarded if you know the line of dialogue.)
“This year I set myself a challenge: Take a brand new photo each day. Beginning with 14mm, each day I zoom the lens by 1 millimeter and force myself to use that focal length to shoot and post a photo before going to sleep that night. This will continue every day until I reach the end of the 1mm lens adjustments at 400mm.” – Chris Hornbecker
Chris is now at 387mm so he doesn’t have much further to go! His dedication to this project and quality of his work is inspiring.
