There has been such an overwhelming response to our Free Encouragement project with Design For Mankind that I’ve had to break up the submissions into multiple parts. Here’s the first 40 or so. If you don’t have any idea what I’m talking about jump over here – Details of the project and full instructions.
I am pleased to announce the launch of our fifth project, Free Encouragement. Erin (Design For Mankind) and I have joined forces, and we are really excited about this one!
So here’s the deal: There is just so much negativity all around us these days, have you noticed? It’s infesting the internet, it’s taking over the big screen, it’s cutting you off, it’s showing up on your bank statement, it’s staining your new shirt, it’s breathing down your neck, it’s not giving you a vacation, it’s talking behind your back, it’s stuffing you in a locker, it’s cheating on you, it’s charging you more, it’s giving you less, and it’s making you miserable!
To celebrate Google’s 10th birthday a couple weeks ago they launched Project 10100 (pronounced “Project 10 to the 100th”). Anyone with a world-changing idea is invited to submit it! This is based on the fact that so many of us have access to tools that could help people, and the fact that there is a staggering number of people that need that help. Google has committed $10 million to funding up to five of the best ideas! Deadline is October 20th 2008.
“May those who help the most win.”
Alright boys and girls Project #4 is here – Design a skateboard for Booooooom! The good folks over at Popdeck made this one possible, so a big thank you to them. This is your chance to design a skateboard and have it sent to you! One month from now I will select the three most creative submissions and then we’ll have a vote. The winning submission will be made available on Popdeck, for the extremely low price of $35, and the winner will receive their own skateboard via mail – free of charge! Accepting submissions until October 25th.
The design can have as much or as little to do with Booooooom as you want but it must be original work! Just be creative!

For this project you’ll need a flashlight or some other portable light source (cellphones work!) and a camera that has a manual shutter (the shutter needs to be able to open for at least a few seconds). Any SLR would be perfect and many point-&-shoot cameras have this ability. Read More
