Cabin Time: A Roaming Creative Residency

cabin-time2

I like this idea a lot. Cabin Time is an off-the-grid creative residency which launches twice a year in various remote locations. If you’re looking for something to do in August maybe you should apply for the one in Santa, Idaho, or the one in Desolation Canyon, Green River, Utah.

Cabin Time accepts applications for residencies and curates a group of 6-9 artists one month before each residency begins.

“Cabin-Time invites artists, designers, writers, musicians, scientists, sign-painters, bird-watchers, cheerleaders, schemers and dreamers to make site-specific work in cooperative intentional isolation. Conscientious environmental stewardship is a core principle of Cabin-Time. Together, we work to set up camp, share chores, cook group meals, and help each other develop our ideas. Cabin-Time hosts residencies bi-annually, one in the winter and one in the summer. The number of creatives invited to each residency varies by location and degree of isolation.”

Watch the video below, it will get you stoked.

Chris Sollars

This summer Brion Nuda Rosch invited Chris Sollars to the SFMOMA to make works using only materials found within the museum. At no point were museum staff made aware of Sollar’s “residency”.
