You may remember American artist Taylor Holland from his brilliantly absurd “FRA[MES]” project we featured a few years back (click here for previous posts). A father now, Holland’s latest project chronicles his failed attempts to document his son’s first year of life.

Due to an iPhone frequently lacking memory, rather than a series of clearly recorded moments, what Holland has instead is a collection of blurry approximations of the photos that would have been. See more bittersweet out-of-storage notifications from “Cannot Take Photo” below!

A couple years ago I wrote about Taylor Holland’s Fra[mes] project in which he digitally manipulated ornate frames from the Louvre. He since partnered with Sainthill Lijsten, who do restoration work and framing for large institutions like the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum, to create real versions of the absurd frames.

Here are six antique frames filled with repeated elements from the frames themselves, using custom molds built from the digital images. See the rest below.
