Of Montreal / Id Engager

Great video for Of Montreal’s Id Engager, directed by Marc Reisbig and Hanne Berkaak (passion pictures). Always great to see hand-drawn animation getting some love! This came out a bit ago but I only saw it now, so there!

Jay Dee / 40-Piece Orchestra

AWESOME. A 40-piece orchestra interpreting the music of the late great Jay-Dee. Arrangements by Miguel Atwood Ferguson. Lots of cameos throughout – here’s Pos and Talib doin Stakes is High and then the show closing with Illa J (Dilla’s little brother) singing over Fall in Love (footage courtesy of DERT).

There was a film crew there and it looks like it will be released as a DVD! It will be a must-have (at least for me). Thanks to YesYesYall for the heads up!

100 days! 100 songs! 100 dances!

Boombox by Ely Kim! 100 days! 100 songs! 100 locations! 100 dances! Ely gets bonus points for including some Midnight Juggernauts in there! Hit “more” for the full tracklist!

My friend Steve is having his birthday tonight at the Harbour Dance Centre and he actually booked us all a private hip hop dance class – so this is pretty much required viewing!

Franz Ferdinand / Ulysses

This video makes this song 10,000 times better. Franz Ferdinand’s latest single Ulysses, directed by thirtytwo (pulse films). Bit of a slow starter, love the editing in the second half.

It turns out that all you need is a roll of double-sided sticky tape, a leaf blower, and a trillion bean bag balls to make a really effective low-budget video! Friendly FiresSkeleton Boy, directed by Nexus Productions.

Fever Ray / If I Had a Heart

Incredible new video for Fever Ray’s If I Had a Heart, directed by Andreas Nilsson. Fever Ray is the solo project of Karin Dreijer Andersson, from The Knife (one of my favourite groups).

Thanks to Blair for the heads up.

Lernert Engelberts & Sander Plug

Lernert Engelberts and Sander Plug wanted to learn a new instrument, so naturally they did what anyone else would do… they built an 18th century-style duo glass harp and learned to play it in 8 weeks. What song did they learn? No Limit by 2 Unlimited, of course!
