Our sticker project with Stickerobot Custom Stickers has come to an end! There were so many fantastic submissions it was really difficult (impossible) to choose just 3 winners. We really wanted to reward people who created things specifically for this project and also took into consideration what would print well as an actual sticker.

Here are the 3 sticker designs we chose! Each of you will receive 500 of your sticker back printed with a blurb about you and your contact information. We won’t be selling your designs, we will be giving them away to people, these are meant to be a fun way for us to promote you!

Thank you, once again, for all the incredible submissions! You can see them all here.

Just a reminder that our friends at Sticker Robot are currently offering 500 free stickers on every white vinyl sticker order of 1,000. There’s no limit so say you order 10,000 you’ll get 15,000. The offer is vaild until November 30th.

Booooooom x Herschel Supply: “Drawing On The Past” Gallery Show

drawingonthepast-booooooom2

I’m excited to finally announce our “Drawing On The Past” project with Herschel Supply will end in style next Thursday, October 2nd, with a gallery show at Burrard Arts Foundation (108 East Broadway). We will be packing in as many of the incredible submissions as we can fit. The show will run until October 5th. Beverages will be provided by Vancouver Urban Winery and Postmark Brewing.

If you plan to attend please RSVP the Eventbrite HERE. We may get really busy so there may be a line at some point during the night. If you’re on the list you’ll have an easier time getting in.

I also want to officially announce the winners of the very special Booooooom x Herschel Supply bags. Congratulations to the three on the flyer above: Lucy Drury, Maria Nguyen, and Mallory Lucille Rose. I know I said there’d be three winners but I actually picked a fourth winner, Rachel Hines. Her submission below is maybe my favourite of the entire project. There were many beautifully rendered portraits of people, places, and things but I was struck by the small moment that Rachel described. This is what a drawing made of honest lines looks like:

Thank you to everyone who submitted a drawing and shared a story. It’s going to be a really amazing show, we’re displaying all the drawings on custom made clipboards. I hope to see lots of you there! Following the show I will post an online gallery of all the digital submissions we received so stay tuned for that as well.

Once again, if you wanna come to the gallery show next Thursday, 6PM, October 2nd, please RSVP the Eventbrite HERE.

Homemade Instrument / Winners

Booooooom & MTV / made of imagination

As our “Made of Imagination” project with MTV and Sony Xperia comes to a close I just want to make sure I say thank you to every single one of you for getting involved!

It’s kinda silly to only pick two winners but that’s how many prize packs I get to give away. I wanted to reward entrants who created something specifically for this project instead of submitting something they’d previously made, and both of these submissions went above and beyond with wonderful performance videos.

Congratulations to Joel Zuercher (Los Angeles, California) and Cristian Martínez (Buenos Aires, Argentina), you have both won Sony Xperia phones as well as some Booooooom goodies!

See both submissions below:

Joel Zuercher’s submission is a box with spindles and a hand crank and two guitar wires strung across the front.

Cristian Martínez’s submission is a modified toy affixed with metal sponges, car antennas, and crocodiles clips. He is accompanied by his friend Isis Abigail on an oscillator, using herself and a plant as variable resistor. I love how Isis really goes off near the end.

I gotta acknowledge Simone Shin’s sewn turntables, Cara Stewart’s broom phonograph, and of course the fast food performance by Jessica and Aurélien! These were also standouts! If you haven’t done so already, take a look at all the instruments:

Submissions PART I + Submissions PART II

Thanks for making this such a fun project you guys! Any Booooooom goodies I promised people will be sent next week!

Wild Things! Forts! Winners!

After much deliberation with the guys at Weloveyouso we have finally picked the winners of our Wild Things’ Forts contest!

eric rice wild things fort winner

Grand Prize Winner: Congratulations to Eric Rice, you have won the “Where The Wild Things Are” Xbox and a bus shelter-size poster! Your fort was just ridiculous! It had a freakin’ third floor!!!

“I spent the long weekend building my fort out old pallets and other discarded materials. I didn’t use any nails or screws to build the actual fort, it’s lashed together with hundreds of feet of string, and is surprisingly sturdy, even on the third floor. I had an awesome time building it, and hope you guys do some more contests in the future.” – Eric
