This portfolio brings together photographs taken in the primary forest of Bialowieza, located astride the Belarusian and Polish border.
Unlike my previous series, shot in the ruins of contemporary buildings, which used a camera film technique, I worked with a digital camera for these new photographs.
The operations of assembly, retouching and digital manipulation are an integral part of the genesis of the image. Subjectivity is a premise here, and photography never prides itself on a "documentary" mission. These photos are resolutely on the side of the imagination, silence and mystery.
The images of “Bialowieza” draw the gaze into a singular fugue. I see this series as an ode to nature and to what is intact and free hidden in each of us.
