Monika Wiatrowska is a stylist and photographer based in Vancouver, Canada. She started out as a graphic designer working in print, and eventually shifted her focus to photography and styling with encouragement from her colleagues and friends. Photography has been a constant practice for her since she was a teen, and always served as her primary means of journaling and visual experimentation.
Monika Wiatrowska's work is informed by her interest in the collision of human and natural worlds, amplified sensory experience, and surreal moments found in ordinary places. Her still lifes often use botanicals in various stages of freshness or decay. With an amplified attention to colour, texture, and detail, she builds these scenes to uncover or imagine the lives of objects, and the meanings we assign to them.
