Soldier Training

Soldiers are trained to be brave, a different kind of brave. They go through mental
and physical stress. They train with people they have never met, but share the same
feelings.
I was a military photographer and had a camera with me most of the time. I
photographed tanks and weapons. But I also found myself aiming my camera at my fellow soldiers, my teammates. My interest was drawn to not only the physical nature of the training itself, but the intimacy of the down times.
This group of photographs takes place during those times.
The times where soldiers are trying to figure out where they fit in, not unlike high
school. The times where soldiers are sometimes quiet, reserved, and lonely. I want to
show an honest view of everyday soldier training, all the while waiting for a reason to
use all that they have learned.
