Following in the modernist abstract expressionist tradition, Almu Jiménez is a very instictive artist that uses paint as a means to channel and represent energy and emotion. "There is a strong connection between the depths of the mind of the artist and its creation. I am more interested in art as an expression of emotions or ideas (or a trigger of them), rather than beauty or technique," explains Jiménez.
Not especially interested in showing balance or moderation, she plays with the emotive potential of color, often using fluorescent colors and/or making unusual combinations, that end up showing character or uniqueness.
The artist, who currently divides her time between Berlin and Barcelona, takes an experimental approach and follows her own rules, seeing her practice as an expression of her personality and approach to life.
