Playing with Tradition, a hand knotted wool carpet design by Richard Hutten. Remember when you were on a dial-up modem and images would load like this? Great stuff.

Another Canadian, eh! Illustrator Michael Wandelmaier (Toronto).
Let’s see how many Canadians I can post in a row (I forgot to mention Jessica Fortner is from Toronto). Below are paintings by Marcel Dzama, who is originally from Winnipeg and now lives in New York.
My first exposure to Dzama’s work was the album art for Beck’s Guero (love that album – Farewell Ride anyone?) and I immediately found something about his imagery really unsettling – it was like seeing a Goya painting for the first time.
Jessica Fortner builds sculptures and photographs them to create her illustrations. She offers a nice peek into her process here.
Love these paintings by Delphine Courtillot. I learned from her bio that she was born in France and studied at the same school I attended, here in Vancouver.
Love these illustrations from Courtney Reagor’s sketchbook. I found her work after she left a comment on a recent post, so just a bit of proof that I do read all your comments and visit your links.
