Beck’s Record Club is a one of my favourite projects on the internet right now. A cast of musicians gather and record an album in a day, and the videos are rough, and unrehearsed, and sometimes incredible.
Watch a few of the videos below!
Charlotte Gainsbourg feat. Beck – Heaven Can Wait. Another brilliant video directed by Keith Schofield. A single frame cannot do this video justice, wow. Lots of William Hundley references, did he help out with it?
*EDIT – I guess Schofield made this video without giving any recognition to Hundley which was disappointing to me. Then I realised that most of the shots are direct references to random images on the internet (not just Hundley’s work), this raises lots of interesting questions. How would it be different if the entire video had been sourced from Hundley’s work? Does Hundley have the right to be upset about it? If the sourced images were well-known (like the Weezer video) it would be obvious that Schofield wasn’t trying to pass these ideas off as his own, so what does it mean for him to have used really obscure images?
Read the huge debate here. Hundley has posted about the use of his work on his Flickr.

Mario Hugo’s fantastic work for Beck’s Modern Guilt album, that Interscope decided to pass on. I actually really like the cover art they went with (very classic) but these are really cool to see. After I found these I figured I would google to see who else had already written about them. +KN and changethethought posted about this in July haha.
Stereogum revealed the album cover and the tracklist a couple weeks ago and now another track from the album has hit the net. Gamma Ray. After hearing Chem Trails and now Gamma Ray it’s safe to say that my hopes are pretty darn high at this point. The album comes out in about two weeks!!! I can’t wait!
The first track from Beck’s 8th studio album, Modern Guilt just hit the net! Production by everybody’s grandma’s favourite producer Dangermouse. This album should be amazing (fingers-crossed it’s not Sea Change Beck and it’s not The Odd Couple Dangermouse).
