A round-up of our favourite videos featured on Booooooom TV. This week’s selection includes a variety of work exploring private feelings and personal rituals to broader issues concerning society at large.
“Silk City Bomb Squad” by Steven Mastorelli
An uplifting portrait of a group of young freestyle bike riders from Paterson, New Jersey. Inspired by Nolan Price’s 2017 photo book, Boots + the Bomb Squad, director and cinematographer Steven Mastorelli follows Bomb Squad 973 through the streets as they advocate a subculture that doesn’t revolve around drugs, violence and crime.
Abstrackt Keal Agram – “For No One”
Inspired by a desire to empathize with his wife during the loss of her father, Los Angeles-based director and photographer Romain Laurent’s video for Abstrackt Keal Agram’s track “For No One” follows two characters separated by time and experience yet connected through a shared sense of anxiety.
A lovely animation about secrets and the feelings we keep to ourselves for Kaho Nakamura’s track “Kittone!” by London/Tel Aviv-based animator Sivan Kidron.
Alice Phoebe Lou – “Skin Crawl”
New York City-based filmmaker Colin Read offers a literal inversion of the misogynistic treatment and objectification of women in this brilliant video for South African singer-songwriter Alice Phoebe Lou’s track “Skin Crawl.”
These are just a few of the wonderful submissions we’ve featured on Booooooom TV in the past week. If you have films/videos you’d like to submit, head over here.
