A selection of portraits by New Zealand artist Liam Barr. Drawn to the magnificence of horses, Barr explores ideas of human longing and our desire to domesticate. His series, “Tethered,” contrasts the animals we feel the need to own and control with their free and statuesque natures. As Barr states:
“What drives us to ‘possess’ wild creatures? Is it that we long for their inherent attributes in ourselves? This eclectic group of people and their horses offer different perspectives on these questions.”
