Jarod Lew is an Asian American documentary photographer based in Oak Park, Michigan. In his series, “South of Heaven”, Lew explores themes of “white flight”, the ideals of the American dream, consumerism, and loneliness. Taken in the city of Detroit during a time of bankruptcy, the photographs offer a documentation of suburban America and the landscapes of working class families.
