A selection of images by photographer Jesse Gouveia. Born and raised in Seattle, Washington, and currently based in lower Manhattan, New York, Gouveia photographs his subjects in moments of solitude. “I’m interested in the quiet and stillness of those moments,” he explains.  Documenting friends and those close to him, he describes the reciprocal relationship he shares with his subjects: “they inform the images I make, and I tend to project my imagination or memories onto them.” He is drawn to private, solitary versions of self, and the window that photography affords him into these moments.
