Bahati is a self-taught artist who was born in Munanira, Burundi, and is currently based in Ghent, Belgium. She is proud of her Belgian and Congolese heritage and her paintings pull from her childhood experiences as well as current events. She describes the way the Black bodies fill the spaces as loud, “celebrated in a world without the white gaze”.
