“A Big Fat Sky” by Photographer Max Miechowski

London-based photographer Max Miechowski revisits the British coastline where he spent time as a child for his latest series, “A Big Fat Sky.” Long, meandering drives along the country’s edge have served as an effective antidote to the stress and anxiety of this challenging year, he explains. “Surprisingly, these trips have given me the same sense of fascination and wonder that I felt as a child—they have served as an escape from the city, and an opportunity to find beauty in scenes that seem so familiar to all of us.”

With restrictions on international travel amidst the global pandemic causing many to give a second look to the seaside towns they once left behind for more exotic destinations, Miechowski describes how the British seaside has provided the space to unwind—”an opportunity to reconnect to the sea, and in many ways to ourselves.”
